Ontario Cycling Accident Lawyers

Are you a Cyclist who was Involved in an Accident? We Can Help.

Cycling is a popular mode of transportation in many areas of Ontario. But cyclists usually must  share the roadway with cars and other vehicles. Because people  riding bikes are often less visible to vehicles on the road, especially if the driver isn’t paying complete attention, accidents can occur.

Strype Injury Law consists of highly experienced trial lawyers who have represented clients in more than 250 trials. We understand what it takes to be successful in proving liability in cycling accidents.

Our lawyers will examine every aspect of the case and work with a highly experienced team of medical professionals to obtain the information and insight we need to secure a successful post-injury settlement and/or accident benefits.

Step-by-Step process
  • Stay Calm. If possible, move your vehicle out of harm’s way.
  • Call 911. This will alert police and ambulance services.
  • Check for injuries. If you feel that you have been seriously injured, do not try to move. Let the First Responders evaluate you and provide necessary care and support. It is vital that you go to the hospital if it is recommended by First Responders. Hospital records are extremely important in evaluating which injuries occurred as a result of the accident. The insurance industry often suggests that injuries had already existed or are not related to the accident because there was no initial complaint at the time of the accident.
  • Make notes of damages and take pictures.
  • Record or photograph the names, addresses, license plate numbers, vehicle information (make, model, year) of each vehicle involved in the accident, as well as insurance information.
  • When able, Contact your insurance company.
  • It is absolutely vital that you begin a diary containing dates, times, places of medical treatment and insurance contacts.
  • Get information from any available witnesses, especially their names and contact information.
  • It’s important to file a report and request Accident Benefits within 30 days of a cycling accident. If you are a family member of an accident victim who is unable to file a claim themselves due to their injuries, talk to one of our Ontario accident lawyers as soon as possible to ensure that a report is filed before the 30-day deadline.
