BOATING ACCIDENT LAWYERS
Involved in a Boating Accident? We Can Help.
Ontario’s abundance of lakes which are used for fishing and recreational activities means that boating is a popular summertime activity. Unfortunately, boating shares some similarities to driving, whereby inclement weather conditions, distracted driving, or water hazards can cause accidents that leave victims with serious and even life-threatening injuries.
Strype Injury Law consists of highly experienced trial lawyers who have represented clients in more than 250 trials. We know what it takes to be successful in proving liability in boating accidents.
Our lawyers will examine every aspect of the case and work with our highly experienced team of medical professionals to obtain the information and insight we need to secure a successful post-injury settlement and/or accident benefits.

What to Do After a Boating Accident
-
Stay Calm.
-
Call 911. This will alert police and ambulance services.
-
Check for injuries. If you feel that you have been seriously injured, do not try to move. Let the First Responders evaluate you and provide necessary care and support. It is important that if recommended, that you go to the hospital. Please proceed to the hospital right away. Hospital records are extremely important in evaluating which injuries occurred in the accident. The insurance industry often suggests that injuries had already existed or are not related to the accident because there was no initial complaint at the time of the accident.
-
If the accident is minor or no major injuries are present, then move the vehicles to a safe area. Turn hazard lights on in all vehicles involved in the accident.
-
Call the police.
-
Make notes of damages and take pictures.
-
Record or photograph the names, addresses, license plate numbers, vehicle information (make, model, year) of each vehicle involved in the accident, as well as insurance information.
-
Get information from any available witnesses, especially their names and contact information.
-
When able, Contact your insurance company.
-
It is absolutely vital that you begin a diary containing dates, times, places of medical treatment and insurance contacts.
-
It’s important to file a report and request accident benefits within 30 days of a boating accident. If you’re a family member of an accident victim who is unable to file a claim themselves due to their injuries, talk to one of our Ontario accident lawyers as soon as possible to ensure that a report is filed before the 30-day deadline.
